Rosyjski oligarcha Roman Abramowicz kupił słynny obraz „Krzyk” Muncha, informuje Sotheby’s Life. Płótno zostało sprzedane za 120 milionów dolarów!
Należy zauważyć, że Abramowicz kupił jedną z czterech istniejących wersji obrazu – jedyną, która była w prywatnej kolekcji. Krzyk to seria obrazów Edwarda Muncha, stworzona w latach 1893 – 1910. Płótno przedstawia krzyczącą postać ludzką na tle nieba.
Uważany jest za symbol ekspresjonizmu i jedno z kluczowych dzieł dwudziestego wieku. W 2012 roku wersja słynnego obrazu krzyku Edwarda Muncha została sprzedana na aukcji Sotheby w Nowym Jorku za rekordową kwotę 120 milionów dolarów. W ten sposób praca stała się najdroższą ze wszystkich sprzedawanych na aukcjach na świecie. Przed nią rekordzistką była „Nude Model, Green Leaves and Bust” Pablo Picasso, sprzedana w 2010 roku przez Christie’s w Nowym Jorku za 106,5 miliona dolarów.
„Krzyk” norweskiego artysty Edwarda Muncha padał dwukrotnie łupem złodziei. Stało się to po raz pierwszy w lutym 1994 r., kiedy czterech mężczyzn szturmowało Narodowe Muzeum Sztuki w Oslo. Ukradli obraz i zostawili szyderczą notatkę z tekstem: „Dziękuję za słabe zabezpieczenie”.
Trzy miesiące później obraz został zwrócony, ale w 2004 r. spotkał go ten sam los. Dwóch uzbrojonych zamaskowanych mężczyzn wpadło do muzeum i ukradło dwie prace, z których jedna jest kolejną kopią „Krzyku”. Policjantom udało się odnaleźć dzieła, które niestety były w bardzo złym stanie.
